It has been a crazy few weeks. Ellie's bronchiolitis is still hanging on. The doctor said the symptoms can last for weeks, and they have. And all we can do really is treat the symptoms. Albuterol, Rynex, Tylenol for fever. The doctor is going to try Pulmicort, it is another medicine that is used through the nebulizer. Hopefully it can help. Ellie will have coughing fits, where bubbles come out of her mouth and she coughs until she gags, and usually spits up/throws up some mucousy milk. It is so sad and pitiful to watch her struggle. She is still sleeping through the night, but has at least one coughing fit during the night. That is when I give her an albuterol treatment and she sleeps through it and eventually the cough calms down. I have never had such a sick kid that lasted so long. We are into week 3. Of course Ellie is a special case, being premature and all. Hopefully the dreaded RSV will leave us alone (which this very well could be). We are going home to Utah for Christmas, I would hate for it to happen there! Since Ellie has been sick, the other two kids have been displaced from their rooms. With the coughing fits at night, I decided to move Addie out of the girls' room, to the top bunk in Porter's room. And Porter, for some reason, feels like he would rather sleep on the couch in the living room?! He is getting to be a big boy, I get it. But I do not like my living room to be a mess of blankets. It will be nice to get everyone back in their rightful room. But for now, I am the only one that really needs to be woken up by Ellie's coughs.
We have been to the doctor several times, mostly because I am a worry wart! But, it is nice to see that she still is growing like a champ! Last week, she turned 6 months old and weighed 17 lbs 2 oz, less than a week later, I brought her to the doctor again and she is up to 17lbs 8 oz. She isn't quite ready for solid food yet... I think she wants to be, but her little tongue reflex to push things out is still pretty strong. I keep trying to offer her single grain oatmeal cereal. Hopefully she will begin to be able to eat it soon. Her head circumference is 42 cm. And she is 2 ft 1/2 in tall. Her weight is in the 70th or so percentile. Her head, maybe 50th? But her height is like the 6th! ha! My short little cutie! Some days she is real chatty and smilely. And others, she is real stoic and seemingly annoyed by goofiness! hahaha! I want her to feel all better. It breaks my heart to see her sick. She is improving. And I got to be patient..... why haven't I learned that yet?!
Here are a few pictures of our goings on!....
